Hope it was Merry

Merry Belated Christmas to all that stop by here and let us share with you! Hope it was a good one! I must say Christmas can seem a little lackluster after the best gift - a little one to hold! But it was enjoyed by all... J loved the presents and likes to literally open one at a time to play with. Totally open the present and play with the toy before moving on... so he takes a while to get through his gifts! A few of the things he got that he loves... Thomas the Tank Engine track set, Chicago Bears Football Helmet, Dr's kit (he knew exactly how to use it all before we even showed him!), and other little Thomas toys! E got a new diaper bag - mommy is so excited! She can now upgrade from her boring little eddie bauer backpack to a cute little mod diaper bag (no winnie the pooh bag for this mom!).

G & I were very excited to open a camcorder from his parents! Now we can flood you all with vid links as well :) hee hee!!

The above pic is our Family Christmas Picture... that's the expression Jake gives when you want/ask him to smile for a picture. The only way to get him smiling in a pic is to certainly not ask him!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

Says J & E! Every day since E's birth we've pretty much been getting snow and/or ice! Today E was wearing his Let it Snow shirt and J made a snowman with Daddy! So I guess we had a theme day :) Merry Christmas Eve!!

Home and doing well!

I posted the other day about brothers J & E complete with a pic, and update on how J is handling things. But alas, the world wide web ate it!

Anyway, mostly all is well! Just tired of course, but not completely dragging! J was having some tantrums but that's been getting better. It was so unlike him. He's normally pretty calm and mellow.

E has his 1 week well baby check up at the docs today! Wow, one week already!!

Yesterday my side of the family came up to "do" Christmas... but mostly to snuggle baby E! I don't think I saw my baby for 5 hours except to go feed him! We fed the rest of the family some local chicago style pizza from Giordano's. Gma brought us up a vat of her wondeful chicken noodles, a tray of cookies, and a thing of YUMMY persimmion pudding (that apparently I'll be eating by myself as G looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if he wanted some. I think he thought I was trying to poison him! ha!). Gotta love the holidays and new babies!!

More later... just wanted to share the big news!!

Could today be the day??

Not sure but I'll keep ya posted! I've been having contractions from my back and they're getting pretty painful. They're about 6 mins apart lasting for about 30 seconds. The doc says to call when they're between 4-5 mins apart lasting 1 min for over an hour. So we could be on our way to that... or they could just stop. We'll see! Think I'm gonna give G a call and see what our game plan is!

Full Moon & Die Hard

Last night was a full moon, and there are many stories about it causing women to go into labor and the hospital being full! Alas, last night was not the night for baby and me! I did have a lot of contractions off and on throughout the night, nothing that turned into labor obviously!

Finished all my Christmas present wrapping last night while G and I watched the original Die Hard. We both love that movie... and it's Christmasy! HA HA!

Fell on the Ice!

I'll start off saying not to worry, because everyone (mom & baby) is okay!

In going to G's parents for his bday dinner last night I stepped out of my car and took a quick trip to the rear of the vehicle! G comes driving down the street wondering why I'm laying in the middle of the driveway. He helps me up, we get inside, I park it in the recliner, the baby was moving like normal and all seems well.

After dinner on the way home I start to think about it. G and I agree it's probably something I should notify the doc about. So when we get home, I call the doc, she calls me back ONE whole minute later - I love my doc! She ordered me to the hospital for monitoring and to get everything checked out. So off I go to the hospital!

Four hours later I got to go home. The baby's HB and activity was perfectly healthy! The ultrasound showed everything was as it should be and no bleeding or placental separation. The blood test showed no fetal blood in my blood. We passed with flying colors thank goodness... but that was the most boring and lonely 4 hours EVER! I did grab a book on the way out the door. But it was one I just randomly grabbed at the library and omigod it was sooo boring! However, I guess boring would be strived for considering what I was in for!

Well that's all the excitement from me for now! One week until the induction date... unless he decides to come on his own before that :)

Deck the Halls!

Thought I'd show a few pics of some of our Christmas decorations! Not many people ever get to see our decor, since we go to visit others usually. Luckily with the baby's arrival... some more people will actually see our decorations this year! The first picture is of something new I tried to do after being inspired from a decorating site... to decorate the chandelier! I like the direction it was heading, I feel it needs one more layer of something... but mama has run out of steam and it'll stay as it is for the holidays :)

Yesterday was family haircut day

It's a rare occurence that we would all happen to need/get our haircut on the same day - but it happened! I hadn't been since the end of August and I definitely needed a trim! I was putting it off because I wanted to get it as close to when the baby is born as possible... so I don't have to worry about how I was going to get my haircut with a newborn. At least now I have 3 mths until I need to worry about that again!

Then G decided he needed one too, so armed with his coupon (that I save from the junk mail - poor guy - at least he humors me!) off he went to get his haircut. J about came unglued when I told him Daddy was leaving to get his haircut. J was saying "no, cut, no cut!" Thinking I meant his hair! I reassured him no, just Daddy was getting his haircut.

Well, once G got home we realized that J really needed a cut too. After his "first haircut" back in May we purchased our own clippers for J's hair. Well J hates the clippers with a passion and usually a lot of tears are involved. We decided to bribe him with a cookie (one of my Mom friends brough some Mrs. Fields cookies to my wrapping party on Friday - yum, yum) and he took the bait. He sat in his chair and let G cut his hair with no whimpers, tears, or sudden movements! Cookies have an amazing power! ha ha! He looks so clean cut now, I should take a pic!

So that was how it came to be family haircut day for the H family! :)

If you're watching the Chicago Bears game today keep an eye out for G! ha ha, yah right, good luck! He's gone all day today with a bunch of people from work - when he left this morning it was 5 degrees out -3 with windchill. So J and I are home keeping warm today, although we will have to go for a milk run later this afternoon. Amazing how much milk we go through around here, can only imagine how it's going to be when the boys are older! Yikes!

Oh and on a sidenote, I realize from some emails I've received that there's some confusion about my blog. Please know that I just refer to everyone by their first initials only because this is a public site, I don't really call them that!! Also if you'd like to leave a comment (which would be great so I don't think I'm talking to myself - I do that enough as it is) you don't have to "log on" just click on the anonymous option and sign your name in the text you type!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!!

37 weeks and counting...

Not too much new to report though. Still big and getting bigger by the day :) It snowed a first real snow here last night... it's cold and very windy out. We did have some moms and their kids over to play this morning so that was nice. The weather didn't delay them too much.

We have almost all the baby stuff ready to go, now just to sit (as much as possible with a toddler, ha ha) and wait Even got the infant carseat in the car... my suv just got A LOT smaller all of the sudden though!

Just thought I'd show ya a pic and also one of big brother to be!

Hope everyone had a good Turkey Day

We sure did! Although we do much or go that far, we're all a little tired today it seems! We did head down to G's parents for the afternoon and had Thanksgiving dinner down there. J had a good time showing off for everyone and only had one tantrum (of 2 yr old proportions!) think he had to take full advantage of an audience for both things!

Today we are starting to put the Christmas stuff up. Although, with me moving at a snails pace and needing breaks every 20 mins... good thing it's only Friday and I have until Sunday night! I'm hosting a play in your PJs playdate for my moms group on Monday morning so everything needs to be done by then. Since no one lives in the area really, it'll be nice to have people see our decorations.

Especially my Christmas Village. This probably won't be the last time I talk about it... I just love my village. I've usually receive a building or two as a gift from G's parents every year. Then I starting adding in some on my own too. So it's gotten a little crowded on top of the china cabinet. So G's dad made me a shelf of sorts to put on top of the cabinet to give me about an extra square foot of space total. Today I'm painting that shelf white. Once I finish painting it (waiting on it to dry so I can flip it over and paint the other side) and it dries, I can really get going on the decorating! The tree will probably have to wait until tomorrow.

Tonight G's sis M is coming to watch J and we're going on a date! Figure we should try to get out when we can, soon that's going to be really hard with a newborn! Speaking of newborn... only 3 weeks until the induction date!! Time sure flies!

Hope you all had a great day yesterday... there's so much to be thankful for in our lives!

It's all about cake!

I can't really argue with the kid either! ha ha! Ever since his birthday J is obsessed with cake. He knows the carriers they can be in, he knows that they can look different, he even knows that if you're getting the hand mixer out you must be making a cake!! He asks about cake everyday... breakfast, snack time, lunch, dinner, etc. So while the answer has been "sorry buddy we aren't having cake today" it doesn't make him forget to ask just to make sure!! So thought I'd share a pic from when we were at G's parents a couple of weeks ago for dinner and Gma D was making a cake for dessert. He got in on it early :)

P.S. I'm 36 weeks... aka 9 mths today! In the last month of pregnancy woo-hoo... it's going great although I will warn I'm a bit cranky and easily irritated! Probably only cause it's emotionally frustrating when you can't physically put your shoes and socks on or bend over like you used to!!

No way! You've got to be kidding me!!

Okay, so J is sick AGAIN! I think we've both about had it with all the sickies!! We've been at the doc more in the past month than in the whole entire year!! Started out with a cold which turned into a double ear infection. Then he got hives from being allergic to the penecillian to treat the ear infection. The hives where finally over with last Thursday. Now yesterday morning I started to notice him having a runny nose... fast forward to today and he's Mr. Green Snots McGee with a lovely chest cough!

Neither of us are in very good spirits today! He hates me having to tackle him to wipe and blow his nose and I hate having to tackle him just as much! Let's hope we both wake up on better sides of the bed after naptime! Speaking of which... only 2 more hours until naptime... that seems soooo far away! :)

Had a productive weekend!!

It might be the nesting stage, it might be the holiday prep, it could be that the cold weather is bringing out the human urge to prepare for the winter... whatever it is... I have my various lists that I cross off and add to everyday. I have one for baby things to be done, one for things to be done around the house, one for preparing for christmas, one for christmas shopping, one for gift ideas to give others, and various other random ones in this little notebook. I've taken to calling the notebook, my handy dandy notebook (due to J's Blues Clues addiction). This is a smaller compact version of my household notebook (a glorified trapper keeper - ha ha) that houses our family calendar, invitations, coupons, and misc... it's such an integral part now that pregnancy is turning my brain to mush. Last week I forgot to put my mother in law's jewelry party on the calendar and completely and totally forgot about it! Sorry D! So let's just say I need my lists and notebooks :)

This weekend we got EVERYTHING crossed off our list for both days!! I so happy about that... yah, I must be nesting! ha!

I am excited about having 3/4 (okay maybe more like 5/8 - but its more than half!) of the christmas shopping done. Unfortunately one of those warrants an exchange at Kohls this morning due to a scratch found (why couldn't I of seen it in the store?!?)... lets hope all goes well. I hate returning things, they make me feel like a thief! Luckily this is just an exchange, hopefully it'll go smoother than a return. My goal is to finish most of the shopping next week while G is off work for the week. Then to have all of it wrapped (or ready to ship) by the first weekend in December. Think I'm going to host a wrapping party for the moms in my moms group too!

For good measure I've added a pic of cutie pie J - he was very proud to sport a soap bubble beard in the bath the other night! Not that it's in theme with my post, it's just incentive for you to keep coming back and reading my ramblings :)

The Hives are gone!

Well the good news is that the hives are gone! Yay! Not that it was anything to worry about, but I still felt bad seeing him covered in hives :(

Just realized today that I could have 5 weeks or less left in this pregnancy! So hard to believe! I seem to be at the stage of pregnancy were I'm drawing a crowd. Yesterday at storytime at the library it was like the moms flocked to me and sat around us asking me all these questions. Then afterwards another mom found me in the library to tell me I looked great and she was amazed to see how easily and with ease that I get around. While it may be a strange compliment, I'll take a compliment any way I can get it!! Cashiers, bag boys, furnace repairmen, they're all congratulating me and asking me pregnancy questions. I don't mind, it's just a little odd from the normal stuff :)

Well that's about it for us. Only other thing I have to say is... thank goodness play-doh is non-toxic. For the first time, J decided to eat it today.... NICE. I don't think he liked it though, so hopefully that's the end of THAT!

Why a pic of Carrie Underwood?

Well, it just so happens to be J's crush right now. Ever since he's been about one he's shown a strong preference for blond country singers. Particularly Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Kellie Pickler. We have CMT on in the background sometimes, and he'll always stop what he's doing and watch those videos... or Brad Paisley's Online one cause it has 2 of them in it as well! We received our most recent copy of TV Guide magazine in the mail last week. G showed J the article they had on Carrie Underwood in there. Ever since then J will go find that magazine take it to G and get all antsy and whiny until G finds the article for him. Then he sets it on the coffee table and comes back for a look every now and then. It's hilarious really!!

In other news, J has broken out in hives from a reaction of who knows what. Gotta wait until tomorrow morning to call the doc and get in (talked to him over the weekend). He thinks it's a reaction to the penicillin he was taking for his ear infection. Oh joy! So back to the docs we go! We've been keeping it a bit at bay with benedryl, but he still gets some new ones here and there. But once again, he's in awesome spirits and really only acts like they're bothering him every now and then he'll scratch at the back of his neck.

And, other than that, it's just plain COLD and WINDY here. Anyone that knows me knows I hate winter...and yep, it's still true. I was hoping being pregnant and having the baby furnace that'd keep me warmer... NO... still cold! Every winter I think I'm never going to make it (yah a bit dramatic I know) but somehow I do... but I don't like it one bit I tell ya. The only time I like it is when that dang wind slows down and it snows... at least the snow makes everything pretty and not so dreary. Wonder when we'll get our first snow this year? We usually do by Thanksgiving!

We Voted!

I'm a day late on this... but just had to say that as a family we went and voted yesterday early morning. It went pretty quick, we didn't have to wait that long. It was probably 20 minutes total from the parking lot, through the wrong entrance of the school, waiting in line, voting, and back to the parking lot!

J did great! We had him in his umbrella stroller and he just stared at everyone and poked G in the leg while he was voting... which he thought was hysterical!

Anyway, it felt great going as a family to cast our votes! I hope everyone else went out and voted too!

Daylight savings schmavings!

Seriously, I just think that DST is pure ridiculous!! Who needs it to be ever BRIGHTER in the morning and DARK before you even eat dinner?!?! Sure doesn't help those winter blahs that I'm already starting to feel even though we've been having some unseasonably warm weather today and tomorrow. We're early birds around here, we really didn't need the clocks set back to be even EARLIER birds, really!

J is finally better! So glad to be done with last week that's for sure! We start back going to storytime at our library this week, so it'll be nice to get back to that. While J could care less about the other kids and even the story... he seems to like the process... the car ride there, the walking to the library from the parking lot (he jumps of the curbs and points stuff out), walking up the stairs and then down the stairs (instead of taking the elevator), then hanging up his jacket on the little hooks. During storytime he usually tells me he's all done during the story. But he listens to mommy and stays in my lap until the story is over. Then we do lots of little songs with motions to go with them... his favorite one is the march at the end. He knows we go around twice then it's out the door! He's probably the most enthusiastic in his goodbye than anything else while we're there. Then we always get one book from the shelves to read and look at multiple times :) Then we do the whole process in reverse... he's a very routine little guy... but hey, whatever keeps/makes him happy, makes me happy :)

Happy Halloween!

Well it's the end of a very long week for us. On top of J's illness he's cutting his 2 yr molars... eeek! So needless to say he has zero tolerance for anything out of the norm, or concern for patience, humor, or goodwill. He was a very angry black cat for a whole 30 seconds! However the baby was very cooperative for spending this Halloween in the womb!

Maternity Pics to share...

Okay, so I'm technically in my 32nd week - 8 months - wow! However, I have some maternity portraits that I had taken when I was 6 mths and thought I'd share! I've been so much better about documenting this pregnancy than I was with J. So while subsequent kiddos usually get the shaft picture wise after the first, this is one area that the new baby has the upper hand :) I'll have to remember that for when they're teenagers and he's complaining that J gets more or better, ha ha!

Been wanting to post more, but J's nasty cold & cough turned into a very high fever and after going to the doc yesterday evening... a double ear infection. G is gone this week for work, so it's been some rough days and nights. But I have give J credit for still remembering his manners. He told the nurse and the doctor thank you and when I picked up his script from the pharmacy he (in his lethargic fever state) told the pharmacist thank you before I even had a chance to!

Dec 19th could be the BIG day!!

Had an appt with my OB yesterday evening. She said everything is looking great and since I'm due so close to Christmas and had a great induction with J that it's on the table to schedule a possible induction for this baby! So we have a possible birthdate of Friday, Dec 19th for the little guy!

Granted he could decide to come on his own earlier or my body might not be ready for an induction by then. But still, it's exciting to think we may have a date that we'll get to meet and hold our newest baby boy! WOW, that's less than 2 months away!

Rainy Day and a Dr. visit

Today is quite frankly a chilly, yucky, rainy, dreary day here! J's cold has gotten worse so I guess if we're going to be stuck inside, it's best to be on a day like today. Luckily it was J's 2 yr check up at the doctors this morning. Besides his cruddy cold, all is well!

Off to a Wedding!

Consider this my 31 week preggo shot and a rare couple shot of us! G and I went to a wedding this weekend for one of his friends from Rose. We lucked out that they had it nearby so it was like date night for us (but with more people)! It was a nice ceremony followed by some good food at the reception. There was about a 3 hr gap between the ceremony and reception so we went out for a non-rushed lunch and did a little bit of shopping (we did get one thing crossed off our christmas shopping list!).

J stayed the night with G&G H and kept them and Aunt M busy with play-doh (DOH!), Blues Clues, jumping off steps, aquadoodling, and his other antics. He's a trooper though, he was starting to come down with a heck of a cold and still was in good spirits most of the time. Not so much today, once he was back home with mama and daddy he let himself be sick and it's been a rather long day for everyone. I hate it when he's sick, even if it's just a cold. I feel so bad that even though I try everything to make him feel better, there's really nothing I can do :(

Well, every night I say "Tonight, I'm going to bed early"... then somehow I look at the clock at it's 10pm and I should really go to bed! Not sure how I got into this habit, I was crashing at 9pm pretty regulary for the last 5-6 mths. So on that note I best log out and call it tonight!

So the big boy turned 2 this week!

Hard to believe it's been 2 years since our baby (now big) boy was born! He's a very interesting little guy... he can be shy but once he warms up he is such a showoff! He loves cars, trucks, cats, dogs, being outside, rolling in the grass, going on walks, reading books, and I dare say he might just be addicted to Blues Clues. He can be oh so lovey saying "aaawwww" and patting your back when you pick him up or hug him. He shares lots of hugs and kisses with his stuffed animals... and maybe just maybe sometimes mommy (but usually daddy). At the same time he can pester the dog like a sibling!

Good news is that I think he's as ready as he's going to be for the baby. He seems to adore babies, points them out all the time and is very concerned when he hears them crying on TV or something (tries to give them his cup of milk!). We're hoping for the best transition possible, with a few bumps in the road to be expected... but no doubt he'll be a great big brother!!

Anyway just thought I'd share a few pics of the birthday boy!

The Maiden Blog Post!

Hello All! This is my first post on our family blog! I hope our family and friends will bookmark this blog and let us share our happenings with you! J and I have pretty busy fun-filled (okay, tantrums and the whiny filled days sometimes too) days and with baby boy #2 (Dec 23rd) on the way it'll only be more crazy! But in a good way of course! My goal is to post at least a few times a week... with more than likely a snapshot or two (or ten!) along the way!

Sometimes it'll be about something funny J does, or new development updates on the baby, or perhaps just some random musings from the mama of these boys. Maybe we'll even throw in some stuff about daddy who is hard at work during the week, and hard at play during the weekends!

Give me some time to figure out this blog world and then I suspect we'll be up and running! Until then take care and I'll "see" ya again soon!
