Hope everyone had a good Turkey Day

We sure did! Although we do much or go that far, we're all a little tired today it seems! We did head down to G's parents for the afternoon and had Thanksgiving dinner down there. J had a good time showing off for everyone and only had one tantrum (of 2 yr old proportions!) think he had to take full advantage of an audience for both things!

Today we are starting to put the Christmas stuff up. Although, with me moving at a snails pace and needing breaks every 20 mins... good thing it's only Friday and I have until Sunday night! I'm hosting a play in your PJs playdate for my moms group on Monday morning so everything needs to be done by then. Since no one lives in the area really, it'll be nice to have people see our decorations.

Especially my Christmas Village. This probably won't be the last time I talk about it... I just love my village. I've usually receive a building or two as a gift from G's parents every year. Then I starting adding in some on my own too. So it's gotten a little crowded on top of the china cabinet. So G's dad made me a shelf of sorts to put on top of the cabinet to give me about an extra square foot of space total. Today I'm painting that shelf white. Once I finish painting it (waiting on it to dry so I can flip it over and paint the other side) and it dries, I can really get going on the decorating! The tree will probably have to wait until tomorrow.

Tonight G's sis M is coming to watch J and we're going on a date! Figure we should try to get out when we can, soon that's going to be really hard with a newborn! Speaking of newborn... only 3 weeks until the induction date!! Time sure flies!

Hope you all had a great day yesterday... there's so much to be thankful for in our lives!

It's all about cake!

I can't really argue with the kid either! ha ha! Ever since his birthday J is obsessed with cake. He knows the carriers they can be in, he knows that they can look different, he even knows that if you're getting the hand mixer out you must be making a cake!! He asks about cake everyday... breakfast, snack time, lunch, dinner, etc. So while the answer has been "sorry buddy we aren't having cake today" it doesn't make him forget to ask just to make sure!! So thought I'd share a pic from when we were at G's parents a couple of weeks ago for dinner and Gma D was making a cake for dessert. He got in on it early :)

P.S. I'm 36 weeks... aka 9 mths today! In the last month of pregnancy woo-hoo... it's going great although I will warn I'm a bit cranky and easily irritated! Probably only cause it's emotionally frustrating when you can't physically put your shoes and socks on or bend over like you used to!!

No way! You've got to be kidding me!!

Okay, so J is sick AGAIN! I think we've both about had it with all the sickies!! We've been at the doc more in the past month than in the whole entire year!! Started out with a cold which turned into a double ear infection. Then he got hives from being allergic to the penecillian to treat the ear infection. The hives where finally over with last Thursday. Now yesterday morning I started to notice him having a runny nose... fast forward to today and he's Mr. Green Snots McGee with a lovely chest cough!

Neither of us are in very good spirits today! He hates me having to tackle him to wipe and blow his nose and I hate having to tackle him just as much! Let's hope we both wake up on better sides of the bed after naptime! Speaking of which... only 2 more hours until naptime... that seems soooo far away! :)

Had a productive weekend!!

It might be the nesting stage, it might be the holiday prep, it could be that the cold weather is bringing out the human urge to prepare for the winter... whatever it is... I have my various lists that I cross off and add to everyday. I have one for baby things to be done, one for things to be done around the house, one for preparing for christmas, one for christmas shopping, one for gift ideas to give others, and various other random ones in this little notebook. I've taken to calling the notebook, my handy dandy notebook (due to J's Blues Clues addiction). This is a smaller compact version of my household notebook (a glorified trapper keeper - ha ha) that houses our family calendar, invitations, coupons, and misc... it's such an integral part now that pregnancy is turning my brain to mush. Last week I forgot to put my mother in law's jewelry party on the calendar and completely and totally forgot about it! Sorry D! So let's just say I need my lists and notebooks :)

This weekend we got EVERYTHING crossed off our list for both days!! I so happy about that... yah, I must be nesting! ha!

I am excited about having 3/4 (okay maybe more like 5/8 - but its more than half!) of the christmas shopping done. Unfortunately one of those warrants an exchange at Kohls this morning due to a scratch found (why couldn't I of seen it in the store?!?)... lets hope all goes well. I hate returning things, they make me feel like a thief! Luckily this is just an exchange, hopefully it'll go smoother than a return. My goal is to finish most of the shopping next week while G is off work for the week. Then to have all of it wrapped (or ready to ship) by the first weekend in December. Think I'm going to host a wrapping party for the moms in my moms group too!

For good measure I've added a pic of cutie pie J - he was very proud to sport a soap bubble beard in the bath the other night! Not that it's in theme with my post, it's just incentive for you to keep coming back and reading my ramblings :)

The Hives are gone!

Well the good news is that the hives are gone! Yay! Not that it was anything to worry about, but I still felt bad seeing him covered in hives :(

Just realized today that I could have 5 weeks or less left in this pregnancy! So hard to believe! I seem to be at the stage of pregnancy were I'm drawing a crowd. Yesterday at storytime at the library it was like the moms flocked to me and sat around us asking me all these questions. Then afterwards another mom found me in the library to tell me I looked great and she was amazed to see how easily and with ease that I get around. While it may be a strange compliment, I'll take a compliment any way I can get it!! Cashiers, bag boys, furnace repairmen, they're all congratulating me and asking me pregnancy questions. I don't mind, it's just a little odd from the normal stuff :)

Well that's about it for us. Only other thing I have to say is... thank goodness play-doh is non-toxic. For the first time, J decided to eat it today.... NICE. I don't think he liked it though, so hopefully that's the end of THAT!

Why a pic of Carrie Underwood?

Well, it just so happens to be J's crush right now. Ever since he's been about one he's shown a strong preference for blond country singers. Particularly Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Kellie Pickler. We have CMT on in the background sometimes, and he'll always stop what he's doing and watch those videos... or Brad Paisley's Online one cause it has 2 of them in it as well! We received our most recent copy of TV Guide magazine in the mail last week. G showed J the article they had on Carrie Underwood in there. Ever since then J will go find that magazine take it to G and get all antsy and whiny until G finds the article for him. Then he sets it on the coffee table and comes back for a look every now and then. It's hilarious really!!

In other news, J has broken out in hives from a reaction of who knows what. Gotta wait until tomorrow morning to call the doc and get in (talked to him over the weekend). He thinks it's a reaction to the penicillin he was taking for his ear infection. Oh joy! So back to the docs we go! We've been keeping it a bit at bay with benedryl, but he still gets some new ones here and there. But once again, he's in awesome spirits and really only acts like they're bothering him every now and then he'll scratch at the back of his neck.

And, other than that, it's just plain COLD and WINDY here. Anyone that knows me knows I hate winter...and yep, it's still true. I was hoping being pregnant and having the baby furnace that'd keep me warmer... NO... still cold! Every winter I think I'm never going to make it (yah a bit dramatic I know) but somehow I do... but I don't like it one bit I tell ya. The only time I like it is when that dang wind slows down and it snows... at least the snow makes everything pretty and not so dreary. Wonder when we'll get our first snow this year? We usually do by Thanksgiving!

We Voted!

I'm a day late on this... but just had to say that as a family we went and voted yesterday early morning. It went pretty quick, we didn't have to wait that long. It was probably 20 minutes total from the parking lot, through the wrong entrance of the school, waiting in line, voting, and back to the parking lot!

J did great! We had him in his umbrella stroller and he just stared at everyone and poked G in the leg while he was voting... which he thought was hysterical!

Anyway, it felt great going as a family to cast our votes! I hope everyone else went out and voted too!

Daylight savings schmavings!

Seriously, I just think that DST is pure ridiculous!! Who needs it to be ever BRIGHTER in the morning and DARK before you even eat dinner?!?! Sure doesn't help those winter blahs that I'm already starting to feel even though we've been having some unseasonably warm weather today and tomorrow. We're early birds around here, we really didn't need the clocks set back to be even EARLIER birds, really!

J is finally better! So glad to be done with last week that's for sure! We start back going to storytime at our library this week, so it'll be nice to get back to that. While J could care less about the other kids and even the story... he seems to like the process... the car ride there, the walking to the library from the parking lot (he jumps of the curbs and points stuff out), walking up the stairs and then down the stairs (instead of taking the elevator), then hanging up his jacket on the little hooks. During storytime he usually tells me he's all done during the story. But he listens to mommy and stays in my lap until the story is over. Then we do lots of little songs with motions to go with them... his favorite one is the march at the end. He knows we go around twice then it's out the door! He's probably the most enthusiastic in his goodbye than anything else while we're there. Then we always get one book from the shelves to read and look at multiple times :) Then we do the whole process in reverse... he's a very routine little guy... but hey, whatever keeps/makes him happy, makes me happy :)
