We used Coastal Explorations located in Historic Downtown Corolla, NC. Every one there was so friendly, eager to help, and easy going in general. Highly recommend! We scheduled ours for 8:30am, it was a really good time. They said the best times are sunrise & sunset, but that early morning is the next best time to go out on the water. Especially to see wildlife.
We opted for the two-hour guided tour. It would of been great to of done with three hour tour that takes you farther north to see the wild horses. We feared that might be too long to leave Grandma & Grandpa with 4 kids (my 6 month old nephew was visiting too, that's a lot of boys!).
It was a wonderful morning! You start out in their "big pond" in the middle of the marsh and weave your way out to the sound, see some islands, wildlife, and just feel the wind & water.

In many of the pictures you can see the lighthouse in the background that we end up climbing later that day.
|Lots of stops to see wildlife along the way|

|A duck blind... lots of these on the sound. Outer Banks has quite the history in duck hunting.|

If you're ever in the area and want to go kayaking... they have various tours... definitely check them out! Ask for Ben and tell him we sent ya! Also if you like their page on Facebook they post some amazing scenic shots and the surrounding wildlife from time to time.
